Problems with piercings
If the piercing is done by a professional and is cared for according to instructions, the risk of problems is quite low. What are the typical problems? infection (inflammation) and allergic reaction. Problems can occur for a variety of reasons, depending on the location and care of the piercing.
The most important and simplest rule is to follow hand and nail hygiene. Touching a fresh wound, whether intentionally or accidentally, can infect it.
How often should a piercing be cleaned?
For a fresh piercing, twice a day, morning and evening, is enough, gently sliding it back and forth, adding a drop of care fluid. There is no need to change the piercing! Remember that washing and cleaning the piercing too often will slow down its healing.
Swelling at the piercing site
This is a normal reaction of the body in the first few days. To reduce swelling, we recommend using a salt water compress.
Infection at the piercing site
Infection is caused by microorganisms, such as bacteria, that enter the wound either during or after the piercing. According to statistics, 95% of infections occur after the piercing has been done, so special attention should be paid to hygiene during care; the piercing should not be touched with dirty hands.
When piercing, both the jewelry, the needle, and the pliers must be sterile! If you have any doubts about this, it's better to choose another salon.
Symptoms of infection:
- Redness;
- Pain;
- Swelling;
- Burning.
What to do in case of infection?
If you remove the piercing, it will grow back very quickly, encapsulating the infection inside. See your family doctor for recommendations on medication and treatment.
