What time of year is the best time to get your nose pierced?

Many people are interested in the question of piercing during the winter.

Despite the fact that healing in winter takes a longer period than in the warm season, many experts recommend performing this service in winter. The thing is that in cold weather, much less sweat is released from the skin than in summer or spring. Therefore, the risk of developing an inflammatory process in winter due to sweat and dust is very small. But there is a risk of catching the earring with clothing, which can negatively affect the healing of the nose piercing.

How is a nose piercing done?

The procedure takes 15-20 minutes in total.

  • The client meets the piercing master and tells him/her their wishes.
  • Choosing a nose ring
  • The master disinfects his hands and the puncture area
  • The master makes a stitch
  • A master discusses nose piercing care with a client

How long does a nose piercing last?

The healing period for a nose piercing depends on the type of piercing.

The sides of the nose heal the fastest - healing takes about four weeks.

For other types of nose piercings, the healing period lasts approximately up to eight months.

How to care for a nose piercing?

In order for the puncture site to heal well, without inflammation and complications, it must be carefully cared for – treated with antiseptics.

  • We recommend that you touch the puncture site and the earring as little as possible.
  • Do not touch the injection site with dirty hands.
  • For the first month, the stitch site should be treated with sterile saline solution twice a day.
  • It is recommended to use nasal drops containing seawater, such as Quixx or Hummer.
  • It is not recommended to rub your face with a towel, as the towel can catch and tear the decoration. It is better to use paper towels and dry your face carefully.
  • The injection site should be protected from cosmetics.
  • You can only change the decoration when the piercing has healed, no less than after a month.

It should be noted that a nose piercing will heal quickly enough without a piercing. The piercing should not be removed for more than 24 hours during the first year after the piercing. The stitches may heal within 24 hours or even sooner after the piercing is removed.

It is not recommended to use rings, jewelry with sharp edges or pronounced curves as your first jewelry.

Possible side effects of nose piercing

In case of incorrect piercing technique, as well as improper care of the puncture site, undesirable consequences may occur:

  • Bleeding
  • Inflammation;
  • Nasal septum damage;
  • Traumatized nasal mucosa;
  • Nerve damage.

If inflammation occurs, the soft tissues will thicken, swell, and may have a high temperature and pain. In these cases, you should seek immediate medical attention.
